​I was selected to participate in the 2013 Atlanta Symphony Decorator Showhouse to design two rooms -- The Espresso Room and The Wine Room.   Both spaces had to be completely built out.   Carving out the spaces used for each room and every element of the rooms were designed by The Consulting House.   

The Consulting House was hired to design the basement of this home to include a  home theatre, golf simulation room, exercise room, bathroom, kitchen/bar area and area to play pool.   The basement was a shell and The Consulting House designed and laid out the space along with making all design decisions for the build out.  The Consulting House cut out an area under the stairs to create a barrel ceiling. The barrel ceiling element was repeated into the hallway to the bathroom and in the kitchen/bar area.   The basement was designed as an industrial/modern space.   

An investor hired The Consulting House to be responsible for all design elements and decisions associated with the construction of this new home.  This included design and determination of all architectural & interior details, cabinetry design, selection & design of all materials and finishes, space and room layouts, lighting plans, and so on.   Upon sale of the home, The Consulting House was hired by the new owner to decorate the home.

The Consulting House renovated and decorated this Garden Hills home.  The master bath was a complete gut and the shower floor was raised to become level with the main bathroom floor.   The kitchen renovation included maintaining aspects of the original "ALL" maple kitchen while redesigning to create greater functionality and a more blended aesthetic.   These elements included new appliances,  introducing painted cabinetry through a newly designed island, a full size wine refrigerator and a built- in refrigerator, installing new countertops, back-splash, hardware and lighting, adding glass in upper cabinets, within a new pantry door that is edged in metal and shelving in the bar area, new cabinetry to match the existing maple to create more draws and storage.  The floors throughout the house were refinished with many built in maple cabinets removed and the entire house was painted. The maple stair newel posts, bannister and pickets were replaced with custom ironwork.   The custom ironwork also included all new outdoor lighting and gates.  Each room in the house was decorated with new furniture, lighting, rugs and so on.  

The Consulting House redesigned the master bath by gutting the entire space and removing a 2nd water closet where the free standing tub is currently located. The original bathroom had a built in tub that was closed in under an archway and was adjacent to a single person shower with a small opening surrounded by drywall. The redesigned shower was constructed for two and designed with the entire front and partial side with frameless glass. The tub has a marble wainscot and the base throughout is a marble 3x6 tile in a soldier position in order to allow it to wrap a curved wall.

This project included the total gut and redesign of three bathrooms - a powder room and two secondary bathrooms. The Consulting House was both the GC and designer on this project. Given the house was built in the 1920's, the demo and renovation work brought with it many challenges that were creatively solved by The Consulting House. 

Renovation and addition of a 1902 Mediterranean home. Main level work included moving the kitchen and family room locations and adding a laundry, mudroom and breakfast room. Upper level renovation and addition included creating a master suite with his and her bathrooms, reconfiguring and adding a bedroom/bathroom/office suite and renovating a 4th bathroom.

This project included a total gut of the kitchen and laundry room.  The Consulting House created the new design by taking down walls, removing ceilings, moving the garage door entrance, and adding a large window in the kitchen to bring in sunlight and visibility to the front of the house.   The Consulting House incorporated reclaimed elements while keeping the design clean and transitional.  All selections and cabinetry design were done by The Consulting House.

The project included adding a covered loggia to the home.  The Consulting House worked with the architect to design the space.  All material selections and the overall look were by The Consulting House.

Renovation to create a more open floor plan and expand the functionality of the kitchen and living spaces

This project included creating a house with a more transitional feel by remodeling the kitchen & keeping room, living room, dining room, powder room, sitting room, laundry room and outdoor porch.  The hardwood floors were refinished to a dark stain throughout the house, and new carpet runners and balusters were installed on the front and back stairs.

Kitchen: Removed wallpaper and painted, changed the finish on the cabinetry from a mahogany colored stain to a neutral paint color to work with the existing granite, designed a new island and painted in a contrasting color and installed a white oak distressed countertop,  added pendant lights, installed a new backsplash, installed new hardware and selected new barstools.  

Keeping Room:  Refaced the fireplace and installed tile, removed wallpaper and painted, installed a textured paper in the back of the bookshelves, added overhead light and additional recessed lights, selected new furnishings, rug and accessories.  

Breakfast room: Installed new lighting, designed a new table with reclined wood base and solid surface top,  selected new chairs.

Living room:  Painted room new color, recovered existing sofas, Refinished existing cabinet and selected new furnishings, rug and accessories.

Dining room:  Removed wallpaper and painted, recovered existing chairs, installed new drapery and hardware, new rug, refinished existing chandelier, selected table lights and accessories.

Powder room: Removed wallpaper on walls and ceiling and installed new paper on walls only, designed a new vanity with antique mirror doors, removed recessed light and added overhead hanging light and sconces, selected all new plumbing fixtures and accessories.

Sitting room: Removed excess furnishings and clutter, selected new sectional sofa, drapery, rug, lamp and accessories.  

The Consulting House created the architectural drawings for the renovated master bath and specified all the design elements associated with finishing out the space.   The renovation included eliminating two entrances into the bathroom and creating a single opening that would be focused on a new large, beautiful and multi-functional shower.   Additionally, internal walls were taken down and a section of a closet was incorporated into the bathroom to allow for two water closets.   The master bedroom and the guest bedroom were decorated with all new furnishings and in a new layout.  

The Consulting House custom designed many of the elements in this bedroom.  These elements include the valence & drapery, bedside tables and shelving with a wallpaper installed back, a media cabinet with metal base, and a jewelry vanity cabinet.   

​This house was owned by an investor and was taken down to its studs. Other than some of the brick remaining the exterior and interior of the house were fully redesigned.   The garage was added on as well.   The Consulting House was responsible for all design related decisions for both the exterior and interior of the home.   This included all architectural features and selections for the interior and exterior of the home.

​This was a very small master bathroom ( ~8' wide x 10') that The Consulting House completely redesigned in order to accommodate the client with sufficient storage space and optimal flow.   Although there was not sufficient space to have a separate water closet, The Consulting House was able to hide the toilet behind a tile knee wall to provide some privacy.  The finished bathroom included a free standing tub, toilet, corner shower, double vanity, full size linen cabinet with laundry pull-outs and a full size cabinet to store medicines, make-up and extra supplies like toilet paper.   

The original ranch house on this property was torn down.  The Consulting House began working with the client from the start during the architectural planning phase.  The Consulting House was responsible for all exterior and interior design related decisions.
